CAD Technician

Position Summary

Structural Support Systems is a division of Seizmic Engineering that offers design and fabrication of special engineered products such as:

  • Conveyor Supports
  • Specialty Platforms (mezzanines)
  • Wall Mounted Empty Pallet Shelves
  • Storage Rack Repair Retrofits

We are seeking a full-time engineering CAD technician from the Southern California region (San Gabriel Valley area) to assist with the generation of fabrication drawings, approval drawings, installation drawings and drawing packages.

Essential Functions

  • Utilizing AutoCAD to prepare two-dimensional (2D) and three-dimensional (3D) drafting details for use in developing shop drawings for our fabrication department
  • Developing plan view and elevation drawings for installation purposes
  • Applying AutoCAD skills and knowledge in drafting engineering and fabrication design documents
  • Providing general CAD technical support in the discipline of structural engineering

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (minimum qualifications)

  • 3 – 5 years experience in generating fabrication drawings for manufacturing processes
  • A technical drafting degree or certificate in a related field of study is preferred
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD is a must
  • Knowledge of 3D software, such as, Inventor or Autodesk Advance Steel is a plus
  • Any experience doing take-offs or estimating projects is a plus
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and the ability to grasp spatial concepts
  • Excellent math skills (geometry and trigonometry)
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Capable of reading architectural plans and structural drawings
  • Self-motivated, flexible and have good documentation skills
  • Able to accurately analyze architectural and application data
  • Desire to learn and grow individually as well as in a team environment and to work under deadlines
