Design and Estimating Engineer
Job Summary:
The Design and Estimating Engineer plays a dual role supporting the sales function through detailed estimation and cost analysis while contributing to technical design solutions for custom fabrication projects. This position works under and in close collaboration with the current Director of Sales & Custom Fabrication, with the goal of transitioning into a leadership role upon the director’s retirement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare accurate cost estimates, material take-offs, and bid packages for custom steel fabrication projects.
- Assist with layout and conceptual design of platforms, stairs, guardrails, and related structural systems.
- Read and interpret architectural and manufacturing drawings to inform estimates and project feasibility.
- Collaborate with the engineering, project management, and fabrication teams to ensure pricing reflects technical capabilities and production timelines.
- Support sales initiatives through timely and competitive proposal generation.
- Maintain documentation and records for quoting, vendor pricing, and bid outcomes.
- Build foundational relationships with vendors, subcontractors, and clients.
Skills & Qualifications:
- Minimum 3 years of experience in estimating and/or structural fabrication.
- Proficiency in reading architectural/structural drawings and using CAD or estimating software.
- Strong analytical, communication, and time management skills.
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, or related field preferred.

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $80,000.00 – $100,000.00 per year
